Oakmoss is a sanctuary of artistic collaboration inspired by the very essence of symbiosis. Our name pays homage to Oakmoss lichen, a symbol of how mutually beneficial relationships are the bedrock of life on Earth. In today’s world, the capitalist enterprise often emphasizes competition—a vital element, no doubt. However, the conviction behind Oakmoss is that true excellence emerges through creative synergy; cooperation.
Each item we offer is a unique creation crafted by skilled artisans, from intricately carved paintings to elegant jewelry boxes and Oakmoss wooden wallets.
Jesse James Boyes is the creator of Oakmoss, and personally takes on each project as his own, but several teachers, fellow artists, and sources of inspiration contribute to each creation. We aim to provide not just useful goods but symbols of a greater ideal, where the balance between competition and collaboration results in enduring beauty.

Elegance of wood
Wood exudes an undeniable and magical beauty! The diverse growth patterns of different trees bestow upon wood truly extraordinary properties, aligning perfectly with our philosophy of embracing the innate wisdom of nature. “Going with the Tao” means often letting materials like wood tell us something about what they want to become.

Our core vision shifts slow, in geological time; the foliage on the surface is everchanging.
Oakmoss is not like a factory. Every stage of the journey offers many doorways to new ideas, ways of creating, and relationships with other creators. Everything here is “limited edition” or completely unique, made just for you.
Symbiosis
Oakmoss is a type of lichen. Lichen is a moss-like growth you see on branches, logs, and rocks in the woods. It’s actually made up of two organisms: a fungus (not a plant) and algae (an aquatic plant) living together. They work together and benefit from each other in a mutually beneficial relationship called symbiosis.
The goal
